Chapter 14 · Plan customer value in service layers
Translate the proposed business architecture into a governed customer journey without pricing or market claims.

Why this matters
Identity discovery alone does not deliver a customer’s complete working solution.
The chapter proposes layers around registration: capabilities, workflows, operating context and agent-readable knowledge. Each layer should solve a specific need with a clear evidence gate.
Step by step
01 Map a customer need to a layer
Screen or control: Chapter 14 service-layer table
Why: A service should be evaluated by the customer’s job, not by an unverified market projection.
How: Choose three needs: identify equipment, compare protocol participants and inspect provenance. State the useful output and evidence required for each.
What you should see: A need-to-output service map.
Verify: No prices, revenue projections or customer-count claims are copied.
02 Separate onboarding from authority
Screen or control: P1 assignment state and P5 source scope
Why: A source record may exist before a customer has reviewed it.
How: Inspect the sample’s non-issued state and unknown authority. Draft an onboarding checklist separating discovery, representation, review and permission.
What you should see: A governed customer-journey sketch.
Verify: Finding a prefix does not pass identity issuance or publication authorization.
What is happening under the surface
Separate discovering a source record, proving customer authority, editing a draft, previewing the graph and authorizing publication.
A retained prefix row is not an activated paying customer, a license entitlement or proof of company control. Proposed service layers are not current commercial offers.
Common mistakes
- Treating source-record population as customer adoption.
- Presenting the book’s proposed commercial tiers as committed offers.
The records an agent needs
The public demo illustrates context discovery and inspection. It does not activate a customer, create a commercial entitlement or set a price.

Apply what you learned
Design a three-stage value proposition for an anonymous customer.
Prepare these outputs
- Customer need and useful output at each stage
- Evidence/authority gate
- A measurable acceptance criterion
Review your work against these checks
- Every layer solves a defined problem
- Publication and physical action are distinct
- No pricing, scale or paid entitlement is invented
Check your reasoning
A company’s prefix appears in a source registry. What may a service planner infer?
This answer stays in page memory, is cleared when you leave, and is not sent or recorded as certification, validation or authority.Source and current boundaries

This is strategy planning. Prices, market sizes, customer counts, distribution guarantees and present commercial offers are not established by the book or this course.
Current governance adds exact-source retention, unknown-state, disclosure, validation and scoped-authority safeguards. Those safeguards are not represented as quotations from the historical book.
Numeric lesson numbers are educational content locators, not GS1 identities. Linked public screens use an anonymous non-issued fixture; reading, retrieval and practice do not authorize physical/cloud execution or constitute model-weight training.
