3012 · Graph and agent inspection

Chapter 9 · Ground reasoning without pretending to know everything

Answer a narrow asset question using exact context, cited evidence and explicit unknowns.

Opening the fixed anonymous evidence graph…

Why this matters

General model knowledge cannot establish a particular unit’s calibration, location or current method.

The chapter’s ambition of complete operational awareness becomes useful when framed as questions whose evidence can be checked.

Step by step

  1. 01

Convert a broad question into a scoped one

Screen or control: Chapter 9 requirement list

Why: “Is this instrument safe?” is too broad to prove with a graph label.

How: Ask which exact asset, which proposed method version, which source evidence and what decision is intended. List the records needed to answer.

What you should see: A bounded question and evidence plan.

Verify: The question does not demand a clinical, regulatory or operational decision from demo data.

  2. 02

    Produce an evidence-bounded answer

Screen or control: P5 exact JSON and directed relationships

Why: Grounding includes reporting what is absent.

How: Inspect the asset and a method relation. Cite addresses, state what the fixture asserts and list the missing calibration/runtime/authority evidence.

What you should see: An answer with separate facts and unknowns.

Verify: No sample source assertion is called a measured result.

What is happening under the surface

Separate retrieved source fact, current assessment, inference and consequential recommendation.

A confident answer does not close missing observations, authorization or validation. Complete awareness is an aspiration, not this fixture’s state.

Common mistakes

  • Using a language-model confidence score as a substitute for validation.
  • Reporting unobserved current state as known because historical context exists.

The records an agent needs

Current graph inspection supports evidence-bounded retrieval. It does not prove predictive maintenance, automated release, regulatory filing or omniscience.

Pointers locate records; hashes pin bytes; lesson numbers locate teaching material. None substitutes for an applicable assigned GS1 identity.

Apply what you learned

Answer: “What can we establish about this exact sample asset’s proposed protocol role?”

Prepare these outputs

  • Exact addresses
  • Source-supported statements
  • Explicit unknowns
  • Safe next evidence request

Review your work against these checks

  • Facts and inferences are labeled
  • No action is authorized
  • The answer can be reproduced from retained JSON

Check your reasoning

A graph has a method relationship but no calibration evidence. What may the agent conclude?

This answer stays in page memory, is cleared when you leave, and is not sent or recorded as certification, validation or authority.

Source and current boundaries

Chapter 9 · future vision. Adapted, anonymous teaching prose; not a quotation or independent verification of the author’s assertions.

Source part word/document.xml; original document SHA-256 71e6f7f572534c88a701043b60d5f3f842434a8880c34894eb4fe66177f68d9f. Exact paragraph/table locators are retained; page numbering is not verified.

Operational omniscience, autonomous recommendations and high-stakes decisions remain vision claims, not demonstrated or authorized outcomes.

Current governance adds exact-source retention, unknown-state, disclosure, validation and scoped-authority safeguards. Those safeguards are not represented as quotations from the historical book.

Numeric lesson numbers are educational content locators, not GS1 identities. Linked public screens use an anonymous non-issued fixture; reading, retrieval and practice do not authorize physical/cloud execution or constitute model-weight training.
