3020 · Protocols and participants

Chapter 20 · A protocol is a concert of exact participants

Model a workflow’s participants, stages, contributions and evidence recipients without flattening them.

Open a workspace beside this lesson. Protected links keep their existing access gates; no new permission is granted by this course.

Why this matters

A result may depend on several machines, components, materials, people and documents contributing at different times.

The concert metaphor emphasizes coordination: a reading becomes useful in the context of its role, method and audience.

Step by step

  1. 01

Identify contributions to a proposed stage

Screen or control: P3 proposed run step and participant assertions

Why: A stage’s outcome must be traceable to the records it references.

How: List the component, material, human/service and document roles used by the step. Separate required roles from the exact retained participant references.

What you should see: A role-versus-binding matrix.

Verify: A label alone never fills an exact participant requirement.

  2. 02

    Trace one contribution into evidence

Screen or control: Open exact participant in P5

Why: The concert remains inspectable only if every contribution keeps its source.

How: Follow a participant link and inspect the directed assertion, original endpoints and unknown authority. Return to the same stage.

What you should see: A stage-to-contribution evidence path.

Verify: No graph edge is upgraded to permission or a measured performance.

What is happening under the surface

Define ordered stages and required roles before choosing exact participants.

Retain each selected participant, directed role assertion, governing method version and output reference. A coherent design is not automatically compatible, validated or executed.

Common mistakes

  • Treating one instrument model as the entire workflow.
  • Describing the book’s end-to-end outcomes as implemented vertical solutions.

The records an agent needs

The public sample demonstrates retained step-participant references. Timing of real contributions and execution results are not supplied.

Pointers locate records; hashes pin bytes; lesson numbers locate teaching material. None substitutes for an applicable assigned GS1 identity.

Apply what you learned

Prepare a concert map for one proposed stage.

Prepare these outputs

  • Stage definition
  • Required roles
  • Exact supplied references
  • Outputs and evidence recipients
  • Missing bindings

Review your work against these checks

  • Every participant remains separate
  • Roles and bindings are distinct
  • The map is explicitly proposed and non-executable

Check your reasoning

What makes the concert metaphor technically useful?

This answer stays in page memory, is cleared when you leave, and is not sent or recorded as certification, validation or authority.

Source and current boundaries

This is a design exercise, not a coordinated physical execution. The preceding missing-body Chapters 17–19 are not reconstructed.

Current governance adds exact-source retention, unknown-state, disclosure, validation and scoped-authority safeguards. Those safeguards are not represented as quotations from the historical book.

Numeric lesson numbers are educational content locators, not GS1 identities. Linked public screens use an anonymous non-issued fixture; reading, retrieval and practice do not authorize physical/cloud execution or constitute model-weight training.
