3028 · Capabilities and source evidence

Chapter 22 · Read the manual before proposing the driver

Extract candidate behavior with exact source scope and record what is required for a tested interface.

Open a workspace beside this lesson. Protected links keep their existing access gates; no new permission is granted by this course.

Why this matters

A manual may describe user actions, states, sensors, limits and exceptions without supplying an executable API.

The chapter’s construction method is useful when every proposed behavior remains traceable to the correct revision and scope.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Make a source-scoped behavior inventory

Screen or control: Chapter 22 construction table and P2 operations

Why: The original source is the evidence for a proposal, not for native interface support.

How: Choose one candidate demo operation. Write the command intent, inputs, outputs, relevant states and exception evidence a real manual would need to provide.

What you should see: A source-requirement inventory.

Verify: Missing manual pages and responses remain explicit rather than fabricated.

  2. 02

    Define the adapter test boundary

Screen or control: P2 operation transport boundary

Why: A representation cannot dispatch a command until a real interface is tested and authorized.

How: Record native-interface evidence, endpoint, adapter version, credentials scope, safe test environment and expected response needed for implementation.

What you should see: A non-executable driver test plan.

Verify: No hardware endpoint or execution permission is inferred from operation names.

What is happening under the surface

Read five dimensions: requested actions, state transitions, sensor outputs, conditional rules and participant context.

Separate manual-supported behavior, candidate machine representation, real transport implementation, conformance and hardware validation. A candidate driver does not pass all five.

Common mistakes

  • Turning a UI action in a manual into a claimed native API.
  • Repeating the book’s one-day driver or universal-interface claims as measured performance.

The records an agent needs

The demo’s MHS/SiLA operations are candidate descriptions. Transport, native support, hardware behavior and formal conformance are not supplied.

Apply what you learned

Draft one candidate operation with a five-dimension evidence plan.

Prepare these outputs

  • Intent and input/output requirements
  • State/sensor/rule evidence
  • Exact source revision and locator requirements
  • Transport and safety test gates

Review your work against these checks

  • Manual evidence and candidate representation are separate
  • No executable support is asserted
  • The proposed behavior can be traced and independently tested

Check your reasoning

A user guide describes a thermal cycle. Does that prove a native SiLA endpoint exists?

This answer stays in page memory, is cleared when you leave, and is not sent or recorded as certification, validation or authority.

This is a public source-reading method, not disclosure of protected implementation machinery or proof of a tested driver, native support, conformance or construction time.

Current governance adds exact-source retention, unknown-state, disclosure, validation and scoped-authority safeguards. Those safeguards are not represented as quotations from the historical book.

Numeric lesson numbers are educational content locators, not GS1 identities. Linked public screens use an anonymous non-issued fixture; reading, retrieval and practice do not authorize physical/cloud execution or constitute model-weight training.
